Thursday, 11/17 – Saturday, 11/19

We had a long trip home on Thursday, finally arriving at the boat just after midnight.

We slept late on Friday; then picked up our car from JP’s; returned the rental car; went by the bank; repacked and drove to the cabin in the Ocala Forrest

We got up early on Saturday and went to the Silver Springs post office to retrieve Dad’s mail for the past month.  It filled two grocery sacks!  But, about half was election related, so I could just throw it away without opening it.  We visited with Dad and he gave us a long list of things he wanted me to do before my next visit.  When we got back to the marina in the afternoon.

Sunday, November 20, 2016 – Wednesday, November 30, 2016

On Monday, we spent the morning at Moffitt Cancer Center.  The doctor thinks Rick might have an infection in his bad lung which has been the cause of a cough for about the past two months.  He gave him an antibiotic before we went on the cruise, but the cough came back, so the doc gave him a different antibiotic today.  We go back again in 3 weeks, December 12th for his 4th infusion of Keytruda.  It is a little early still to tell if it is helping him; but both Rick and the doc seem pleased.

On Tuesday, I went for a blood draw before we drove to Ormond Beach to spend the night at Edward’s.  We celebrated Rick’s birthday with Edward.

On Wednesday, we returned from Ormond Beach by way of St. Pete Beach to pick up supper for a November birthday family celebration tonight (Vanessa, J.P. & Rick’s birthdays are in November.)

We were blessed to be able to spend Thanksgiving with our extended family on Thursday.  Rick fried two turkeys; I made deviled eggs and Kellie’s Mom made three pies.  Attending were:  JP, Kellie, Emma, Kellie’s parents, Judy, and Roy, Uncle Jack (Judy’s brother), Charlene, Rick, Uncle Edward, Mat and Lindsay (from Tennessee) with Vanessa joining us after she got off work at 7:30.

On Friday, we tried to get a good “Black Friday” deal on trading in our Kia Soul for a new one, but unfortunately, they couldn’t come down to the price that Rick wanted to pay, so we decided to keep it a while longer.  We only have 94,000 miles on it.  We have decided that it is time for us to look for a “land-based” home.  We checked with the yacht club and surprise, surprise – the one slip in the basin that our boat will fit in is available now.  So, we will be moving On the Hook to slip #52 in the Bradenton Yacht Club basin sometime in the month of December.  This happened a lot faster than we anticipated, so we spent Friday afternoon looking at places in which to live.  We think that we want to rent/lease to start with, but if we find a really good deal on buying a small home or condo, we might be persuaded to do that.

On Saturday, we went house hunting again in the morning and then took the boat to the yacht club for the night.  We had a chance to see how the boat will fit in the new slip.  We will have to “nose-in” because it is not deep enough close to the dock across the slip; but we backed in for tonight leaving about 5 feet open in the back.  It is no problem getting on and off the boat as we have a long finger dock against the sea wall that runs along the side of the boat.  I couldn’t resist taking a picture of the sunset in the evening.  We look forward to seeing many more from this prime spot.

We returned to our slip at Riviera Dunes on Sunday, November 27, and then met Bill and Ruth, Ken and Jackie to watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win another football game.

We drove around looking at homes on Monday morning and then met JP’s friend and real estate agent to go inside a house for rent and a condo for sale.  We really liked the house, but it is probably larger than we need.

On Tuesday, we met a different real estate agent who showed us two condominiums for lease in Riviera Dunes.  One was furnished and the other was not.  (We are still leaning toward the single family home.)  Then we drove to Ocala where we stayed at Dad’s house in the forest overnight.

Wednesday was the last day of the month.  Before we went into town to visit with Dad, Rick gathered up the Christmas decorations that we had stored here for us to take back to Palmetto to complete decorating the boat for the holidays.  We drove back to Palmetto and the boat.  While I rested, Rick put up most of the rest of the Christmas decorations.  Before he went to bed, we filled out an application to lease a home for a year.  Now, we wait to see if we are approved.
