Saturday, April 15 – Saturday, April 22, 2017

Saturday – 4/15 –We drove to Ocala to check on Dad’s cabin and then in to the rehab center for a visit ending with an appointment with his “tax man.”  Steve brought his tax return to the center for his signature.  After that we returned to Palmetto.  We went to the yacht club for fish and chips and met Ken and Jackie who joined us for supper.

Sunday, 4/16 – Happy Easter and happy birthday this week to Rick’s brother, Edward (4/17), our niece, Dr. Christina (4/19) and her father, my brother, Bill (4/20).  Unfortunately, Rick woke up sick this morning, so we took it easy at home.

Monday, 4/17 – We drove to Moffitt where Rick had bloodwork done and a CT Scan before meeting with Dr. Tan.  The doctor said that there was no significant difference in the CT from last month and that Rick’s labs looked good.  But, since Rick hasn’t been able to keep anything down for more than 24 hours, he would reschedule the infusion to next week and have him get a nausea medicine through IV as well as some IV fluid because he is dehydrated.  This infusion took about 3 hours.

Tuesday, 4/18 – Rick was finally able to keep something down.  Overnight he drank some Gatorade and then had scrambled eggs for breakfast.  He let me sleep late and went to the boat to prepare things for a new beverage refrigerator for the top deck.  He stopped by JP’s house on the way home to pick up our mail and got back just in time for the UPS guy to deliver the new fridge.  He loaded it up in the back of our Kia in anticipation of taking it to the boat tomorrow.

Wednesday, 4/19 – Happy birthday to our niece, Dr. Christina Cambre.  I dropped Rick with the refrigerator at the yacht club and headed to a morning doctor’s appointment.  The doctor was pleased, overall, with my 4-month check and bloodwork.  She wants me to get my blood glucose level down a little more, but, at the same time, reduced the number of diabetes pills I am taking.  She was a little concerned about a low hemoglobin count.  I agreed to eat more vegetables and to get another blood test in a couple of weeks.  I picked Rick up at the boat; we went to a couple of stores to buy parts he needed for the fridge project; we got some lunch; then returned home.  He went back to the boat to finish installing the new fridge while I stayed home.

Thursday, 4/20 – Happy birthday to my brother, Bill (Christina’s dad).  I dropped Rick off at the boat again this morning to work on installing some new lights.  We received an e-mail from Rick’s Aunt Tillie.  He was in the same class in high school as her husband Jimmy.  They live on Andros Island in the Bahamas and we visited there a couple of times when we were living on the boat.  She said that they would be in our area tomorrow and would like to stop by.  We are looking forward to their visit.

Friday, 4/21 – We were happy to welcome Jimmy and Tillie Hoffmeister Parker for a short visit on Friday afternoon and thrilled to hear that they plan to attend Rick and Jimmy’s 50th high school class reunion next month.  We enjoyed sitting on our back porch while the breeze was blowing, but had to go inside when the breeze calmed down and we were swarmed by love bugs!

Saturday, 4/22 – JP brought Emma over for a couple of hours in the afternoon.  It rained a little bit while they were here, but stopped long enough for us to take a short walk down the block.  After they left, we loaded up and went to the yacht club to spend the night on the boat.  We met Ken and Jackie along with her daughter Renee, her husband, Tommy, and their son Dillon with his girlfriend.  They were getting an early start on celebrating Dillon’s birthday which is tomorrow.  He will be 25.

Sunday, April 23 thru Sunday, April 30
Proper driver education and training is more important for teens and they need to be made aware buy cialis like this of traffic rules and regulations.

Sunday, 4/23 – We returned to the yacht club after church to have breakfast.  Then I went shopping while Rick worked on the boat.  It was a nice day.

Monday, 4/24 – We drove to Moffitt Cancer Center in the morning.  Rick first had a procedure to drain the excess fluid from around his left lung.  After that, they gave him his chemo treatment.  We left Moffitt around 5 p.m. and drove to the cabin in the Ocala Forrest to spend the night.  After arriving, Rick met the new neighbors that have just moved into the place next door that used to be my grandmother’s.  He said they seemed nice.

Tuesday, 4/25 – We drove into Ocala to see Dad. He is doing well.   Then we returned to Palmetto.  After arriving in Manatee County we, took Charlene’s broken laptop (dropped while at Moffitt on Monday) to Best Buy where the Geek Squad advised a repair would cost as much as a new laptop.  So, we purchased a new laptop and left it with Geek Squad to move everything but Office from the old laptop to the new laptop.  They advised that it would take approximately 48 hours.

Wednesday, 4/26 – We received a call from the office doing the title search on the Twin Rivers property.  Rick gave them an e-mail for each of the 4 of us buying the property and got instructions about setting up the wire transfer to pay for the lot.  We drove to Walgreens in Palmetto to pick up Rick’s pain patches and then to our bank/credit union in Bradenton to arrange the wire transfer.  Rick took me back to the house and he went to the boat to work on the wench on the top deck.  We received an e-mail from Susan at Bruce Williams Builders with a preliminary set of plans attached.  She asked us to review them and let her know of any questions we have.  I forwarded a copy to JP for him and Kellie to review and I spent some time making a list of questions to send to her.  Later in the afternoon, I received a call telling me that the Title Company had received the electronic signatures from all of us except Rick.  They also had received the wire transfer of funds.  When Rick came home, the first thing he did was electronically sign the document.  I was told that the sellers were going to sign on Thursday and the property would be our first thing Friday morning.  During super time, we got a call from Rick, the representative of the company selling the property.  He asked if we were satisfied at this point and, of course, we were.  He also asked if it would be OK for him to post a sign on the property for about a week indicating that it had been sold by his company.  We agreed.

Thursday, 4/27 – During the night, Rick started getting sick.  This was not unexpected.  If it follows the pattern of the last 3 chemo injections, he will not be feeling well for the next 4 or 5 days.

Friday, 4/28 – JP told me that he was taking Emma to the doctor this morning, so Rick and I drove out to the property without him.  The agent had not yet put up the sold sign, but someone had already located the underground electric wires.

Saturday, 4/29 – Rick and I picked up JP and drove out to the model house to meet with the builder’s rep, Susan.  We went over our questions and comments regarding the preliminary plans and she added some of her own.  We all felt it was a very productive meeting.  Later, Rick and I went to the boat – just sat on the back reading – and then to supper at the yacht club.

Sunday, 4/30 – After church, we returned to the “back porch” on the boat to read some more.  We got a phone call from Ruth about 2:00 saying they were at the club for a late lunch, so we walked around the basin and joined them.  We went back to the house shortly after our late lunch and I took a nap.
