Riick's Memorial Stone with bouquet of Lillies

Before going into the hospital, I placed these lilies at Rick’s memorial stone.

Friday, 3/1 – The hospital routine included therapy at least once a day and icing my incisions twice a day. Visitors included Vanessa, JP and Dad. Friday evening, I had a surprise visit from Rick’s Aunt and Uncle, Tillie and Jimmy. They are in the process of moving back to the US from Andros Island, Bahamas. They moved their boat to Twin Dolphins marina today and walked up from there to the hospital to say hello. I am so excited to soon have them living close by.

Saturday, 3/2 through Friday, 3/15

I was transferred from the hospital to Hawthorne Village of Sarasota (a rehabilitation center). Shortly after I arrived, JP brought Dad down to stay in the same room with me. (He says that way we can keep an eye on each other.) During the two weeks that we were here, we had visits from Kathi, JP, Emma, Jeff, Tom, Teri, Monica, Laura, Traci, Julie and Brenda. I also received cards from Jean and Bruce and Joann. I received small gifts and food and the flowers pictured below. I thank everyone for their thoughtfulness.

My routine in the rehab center included therapy every day usually for 2 one-hour sessions. It seems that I came out of the hospital with a pinched nerve in my right arm and it was very weak, so the occupational therapists concentrated on strengthening that. The physical therapists were extremely pleased with my ability to walk and balance. I started off using a walker and by the middle of the second week, I graduated to using a cane when outside and nothing inside.

One of the nice, and very unexpected, things that are part of the routine at Hawthorne is that they serve wine and cheese as part of super every Friday night.

While in rehab, Dad accepted an offer for sale on his cabin in the Ocala Forest and the sale was closed on 3/13/19. Thanks go out to our financial advisors at Aksala for notarizing papers to help accomplish the sale. Dad also had an opportunity to talk on the phone with his long-time friends, Bob Wimmer and Carol Martin.

I had a bit of a shock when my CPA’s office called to say that the tax form which he e-filed for me was rejected. He said that Social Security says the person with my number is deceased! I called Social Security and they assured me that I am still alive. So, the taxes will be refiled.

Erectile dysfunction can be caused by different factors such as age, weight and health conditions so it is highly recommended that you must seek advice from your doctor or doctor first. cialis prices http://cute-n-tiny.com/page/4/ could be regarded the most typical erectile malfunction treatment choice.
On 3/14, I was transported by Hawthorne Village to see my surgeon’s PA. While there, my staples were removed and replaced with steri-strips. They also took an x-ray and said everything looks good. I go back again in another month.

On 3/15, I had my last therapy sessions at Hawthorne Village and prepared to go home the next day.

Saturday – 3/16 – JP brought us home about 1:30 in the afternoon. My Sunday school teacher brought over supper which we enjoyed. I have caught a cold.

Sunday, 3/16 through Saturday, 3/23

What a doozy of a cold I caught! I stayed in bed for most of the week with the exception of some Home Healthcare evaluations and therapy. By Saturday, I think I’ll live. Emma counted my reps as I went through short routines of exercises for my legs and hip and then some 3-pound weight lifting. After she left, Dad and I went for a walk around the cul-de-sac that my entry faces. It doesn’t sound like much, but the walk wore both of us out. We are looking forward to doing it again tomorrow.

Sunday 3/24 thru Sunday 3/31 –

Kellie has the week off of work and Emma is on spring break from kindergarten. JP and Emma took Dad and me on a couple of errands on Monday while Kellie was at a doctor’s appointment.   (I cannot drive as long as I am on prescription pain meds and/or receiving home healthcare physical therapy.)

On Thursday, 3/28, I had another physical therapy appointment with home healthcare. JP, Kellie and Emma left for a short vacation in Georgia. Dad and I changed where we walk to include the mailbox.

Friday, 3/29 was my last home healthcare physical therapy session. I have not taken any prescription pain meds since I left the rehabilitation center, so I feel like I can now drive for short distances – just for necessities. I should hear from the surgeon’s office next week as to continuing therapy at their facility. JP and family spent the day at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. A picture of their whale shark follows.

Saturday, 3/30 – JP, Kellie and Emma spent the day and evening with their cousins, Tim, Connie and Louisa Cambre near Marietta.

Sunday, 3/31 – JP and Emma came over mid-afternoon to retrieve their mail and her fish, Gilley, which Dad and I had been “fish-sitting” while they were gone. It sounds like everyone had a wonderful time. I got a call from my brother, Bill. He and wife Mary are trying to plan/schedule events for their retirement which will start later this year. He confirmed that they are coming here from Denver for Dad’s 89th birthday on June 30. They will also attend our niece, Melissa Frantz’s ordination in November and would like to come here for Thanksgiving. I am so excited. Bill also told me that his daughter Christina plans to move back to the US from Belgium to become a rural dentist in Nebraska this summer. I’m glad she’ll be a little closer to home.
