Thursday, 3/1 – I drove to Ocala to visit with Dad then went out to the cabin and emptied his chest of drawers, bringing another car-load of his clothes to my home.  While there, I received a call from Jermal Rolle.  He and wife Lisa were at Compass Cay and just called to say hi.  I sure was nice to hear from them.  I talked to Jackie’s daughter, Angie.  She will come by the house on Saturday to pick up the diving gear that I took off of the boat.  I then confirmed with Ann & Curt that they would take back the “hooka” line they had given to us when we left for the Bahamas.  (We used it to “snuba.)  I am glad to have found friends that can use all of this equipment.

Friday, 3/2 – Boxed up Dad’s files earlier than 2018 in the morning and had a deep tissue massage in the afternoon.

Saturday, 3/3 – Construction manager reports:  arches installed at front entries; stucco guys busy both outside and in the garage;  roof material delivered and metal roofs going on.  The pool contractor was there installing underground piping and dug and formed the cage footer.

JP's front EntryScott and Angie came over in the late afternoon to pick up the dive gear.

Sunday, 3/4 – After Sunday school and church, went by the house to see what was accomplished this week, then stopped by the store for drugs and some groceries before returning home.

Monday, 3/5 – After school, I packed up dishware that came from the boat.  I will keep it in storage in case Vanessa needs it for an apartment in the future.  I washed half of the clothes that I brought home from Dad’s place on the lake – most will go to Goodwill, but I will keep some in case he moves in with me.

Tuesday, 3/6 –JP came over in the afternoon and we made some final revisions to the landscaping plan for the new house.  I received a call from the boat broker.  The mechanic had been on the boat today and reported that the “turbo” was not “blown” as the broker had suspected; instead, a pipe had come loose and will be easily fixed.  The mechanic continues to work on some other things.  Also, the broker told me that he has an appointment to show the boat on Saturday morning.  In the evening, I went to Easter cantata practice.

Wednesday, 3/7 –  I picked Vanessa up before noon.  We went to lunch and then to the North River Care Pregnancy Center to do some volunteer work.   Today, we helped them organize one of their “supply rooms”  We emptied a dozen cases of diapers, organized them by size and put them on open racks so the staff can easily remove them to give to expected or new mothers after they have completed watching a tape on pregnancy or parenting.  In addition to the diapers, we also organized two racks of infant formula, baby wipes, and some personal items for the mom’s.  After 3 hours, we had worked on about one-half of the room.  In the evening I went to choir practice.

Thursday, 3/8 – Today would have been my mother’s 89th birthday.  I miss her.  I went to the grocery store to pick up some medicine and buy a few things I need to make a couple of salads and some cookies for a “teachers luncheon” after church on Sunday.

Friday, 3/9 – I took the car to Ford in the morning to have some recall work done.  Jackie picked me up there.  Then, we went to breakfast and did some shopping.  We met JP at the new house on for a walk-thru and then lunch before saying goodbye to Jackie and having JP come home with me for a couple of hours before returning to Ford to pick  up the car.

Saturday, 3/10 – The construction manager reports:  Inspections completed and drywall hung and taping completed.  Shown below if JP and Kellie’s great room.

Around noon, I met with about a half-dozen other ladies from the church to prepare for a luncheon tomorrow afternoon.

Sunday 3/11 – Time change, Sunday school, church and teacher’s appreciation and planning luncheon.

Monday, 3/12 – School, drove to construction design office to drop off check for change orders.

Tuesday, 3/13 – School, dropped off some of Dad’s old clothes at Goodwill, stopped to buy 22 bags of Easter Candy for the upcoming church Easter Egg Hunt, stopped by JP’s to drop off some things and stayed to have lunch with him.  Returned home and took care of business before going to Easter Cantata practice.

Wednesday, 3/14 – Took care of business in the morning, volunteered at the Pregnancy Center in the afternoon before choir practice in the evening.

Thursday, 3/15 – Drove to Ocala to visit with Dad, then dropped off his tax documents for his “tax guy” before proceeding on to Ormond Beach to visit overnight with Rick’s brother, Edward.

Friday, 3/16 – Left Ormond before noon, driving home to Palmetto.  Once home, JP and I went out to the new house to inspect this week’s progress.  Later dress rehearsal for the Easter cantata.

Saturday, 3/17 – Construction manager says:  “As expected the walls are not drying as fast due to the weather but we are on schedule to spray Tuesday as long as the rain called for tomorrow doesn’t hinder the dry time even more.”  Pictured below is the lanai at the back of the house.

Spent the afternoon and early evening with granddaughter, Emma, so JP and Kellie could attend a wedding.  We had a very good time together.

Sunday, 3/18 – Sunday school, church in the AM then Easter cantata presentation followed by snacks in the evening.

Monday, 3/19 – Sunday, 3/25/18

Volunteered at school on Monday and Tuesday and was joined by granddaughter, Vanessa, volunteering at North River Care Pregnancy Center on Wednesday.  Filed my income tax.  Had a nice surprise on Thursday when Rick’s Aunt Tillie and Uncle Jimmy stopped by for a visit after going to look at a sailboat in St. Petersburg.  We went out to the house under construction and then drove by a marina that they like in Bradenton called Twin Dolphins before returning home and saying goodbye.  They arrived in Tampa from Andros, Bahamas, yesterday and will go over to Ormond Beach tomorrow to prepare for closing on Jimmy’s mother’s home on Monday.  I went back out to the new house with JP on Friday afternoon and was surprised to find that they had started to paint the interior walls.  Then, I met friends Bill and Ruth for supper.  We had not seen each other for over a month and really enjoyed the meal, even though Bill wasn’t feeling well.  They surprised me by telling me that they bought a motorhome this week.  I hope they love it.  On Sunday, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of Palm View First Baptist Church.  Rick and I joined the church about 30 years ago.  After Sunday school and church, most of the congregation went to the fellowship hall for a potluck dinner aka “dinner on the grounds” where there was lots and lots of scrumptious food.

Monday, 3/26 – Saturday, 3/31/18

School was out for spring break this week.  The weather was beautiful.  On Monday, I got my hair cut and my nails done in anticipation of Easter and joined some other ladies for a couple of hours at church in the evening putting candy into plastic eggs in preparation for a big Easter egg hunt on Saturday.  The boat broker let me know that he would be showing the boat three times this week.  On Thursday, I went shopping in the morning, buying white shoes for Easter and  rode with JP and Emma (who was home sick) to Kellie’s eye doctor’s  (next door to her office).  She had an eye exam with dilation and was not allowed to drive home.  JP, Kellie and Emma came home in her car and I drove his car home.  We stopped by the new house on the way home and found the interior and exterior painting mostly done.  Also, some of the tiling was complete.  I enjoyed a 90-minute deep tissue massage on Friday.  On the last day of the month, I joined JP, Kellie and Emma at the Bradenton Yacht Club for the annual Kids Easter Party where a good time was had by all.  When I returned home, I found this week’s report from the construction manager included the following comments:

  • House got exterior paint as did the interior walls; tile is going on in showers.
  • OH doors are due the week after next as well as exterior soffit.
  • All underground is in and approved.

He also included pictures of both JP’s front door and my front door shown below.
