Tuesday, 7/24 through Tuesday, 7/31

We got more work done around the house this week and I did my regular volunteering at the North River Care Pregnancy Center.  On Friday, 5/27, I made a quick trip to Tampa to spell Jackie for the day.  They moved into an apartment right across the street from Busch Gardens and just a couple of blocks from the Moffitt building where he has to go for daily appointments.  Jackie showed me all around the two-bedroom, two-bath apartment and the three of us went for a 15 minute walk, enjoying the antics of some new baby ducklings at the lake.  I stayed with Ken, who was resting, allowing Jackie time to go to the grocery store.  She made a pizza for supper which we all shared before I returned home.  Saturday, July 28, 2018, marked the one-year anniversary of my husband, Rick’s, passing.  I met a florist at church with an arrangement I had ordered for Sunday, then went by the cemetery on the way home to pay my respects.

After church on Sunday, I drove up to Tampa to stay with Ken until Tuesday afternoon, so Jackie can get some things done at their home in Bradenton.  When I stay there, my responsibilities for Ken include giving him meds at 2 a.m., 6 a.m., 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., along with doing all the cooking and cleaning in the apartment.  Also, I accompany him on several short walks each day and take him to his appointments at Moffitt.  Because his immune system has to rebuild since the stem cell transplant, he must be very careful about exposure to most everything.  But, he seems to be handling things pretty well so far.

To my readers, I thank you for your loyalty.  This started out as a way for me to tell everyone about our travels; then I spent a lot of time telling friends about both my Dad’s and my husband’s ills.  You also got to see the progress of the new home, which we have lived in for more than a month now.  I will continue to write, but not nearly as often and in such detail as I have in the past.  In the interim, you may be able to find me on Facebook.  I will continue to update you on Dad’s progress and perhaps our new adventure of living together.  And, of course, I will delight in telling you of any travels I may undertake.  As always, please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or comments.
